This website, danjones.ca, is run by Dan Jones Personal Real Estate Corporation. I am a REALTOR® with Royal LePage Locations West Realty, 484 Main Street, Penticton, BC V2A 5C5. This policy explains what personal information the site collects, why, and what I do with it. I follow British Columbia’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA).
What I collect
When you fill in a form. The contact form asks for your name, email, phone number and a message. The home evaluation form also asks for your property’s address, details about the home (such as the basement and garage) and your timeline. I only get what you choose to type in.
When you create an account. You can register to log in and look at listings. Your account stores a username, your email address and a password (the password is stored in scrambled form, so even I can’t read it). If you save favourite properties or searches, the site keeps those with your account so they’re there next time you log in. You can ask me to delete your account at any time.
Automatically, when you visit. Like most websites, the site records basic technical information: your browser, device, the pages you visit and roughly where you are (city level, not your address). This comes from:
- Google Analytics, which tells me which pages people read, so I can improve the site.
- Google reCAPTCHA, which checks that form submissions come from a person and not a spam program.
- Cookies, small files your browser stores so these tools work. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site still works, though some forms may ask you to prove you’re not a robot.
How I use it
- To answer your question or get back to you about buying or selling.
- To prepare a home evaluation you asked for.
- To run your account, so you can log in and keep your saved listings and searches.
- To provide real estate services if you become a client.
- To understand how the site is used and keep it working and free of spam.
I don’t sell, rent or trade your personal information to anyone.
Emails
I don’t send newsletters or mass emails. If you contact me, I’ll reply to you personally. If we work together, I may check in with you from time to time afterwards, one person to another, and I’ll stop any time you ask, as Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL) requires. If you save a search and choose to get email alerts about new listings, the site sends only those alerts, and you can turn them off in your account.
Who I share it with
- My brokerage, Royal LePage Locations West, when it’s part of providing real estate services or keeping the records the brokerage is required to keep.
- Service providers that run the site and email: the website host (Bluehost), Google (Analytics and reCAPTCHA) and my email provider. Some of these companies store information outside Canada, mainly in the United States, where it may be subject to the laws of that country.
- Anyone the law requires, for example to meet real estate regulations or a court order.
How long I keep it
Only as long as I need it for the reason you gave it, or as long as real estate rules require me or my brokerage to keep records. After that, it’s deleted.
Keeping it safe
The site uses a secure (https) connection, and form messages go to my email, which is password-protected. No website is perfectly secure, so please don’t send things like banking details or identification through the forms.
Your choices and rights
You can ask me what personal information I hold about you, ask me to correct it, or withdraw your consent for me to use it, at any time. Contact me using the details below and I’ll respond within 30 days, as PIPA requires.

Changes
If I change this policy, I’ll update it here and change the effective date at the top.
